EQUIPMENT

Karaikal Port will be equipped with the latest state-of-art equipment to enable fast, smooth and safe unloading and evacuation of all types of cargo.

The port received 2 Mobile Harbour Cranes – Leibherr LHM 400 – on April 15th, 2009. These cranes are currently operational at the two berths as per Phase 1 plans. Other important cargo handling equipments that the port will have are:

In addition to these the Port will be fully equipped with all the necessary material handling equipment such as Loaders, Excavators and Fork-Lifts etc., in addition to dedicated ship-to-shore quay cranes for the container terminal. The Port will also provide active engineering support to both port and ship facilities as Electrical and Mechanical workshops have also been proposed within the premises.
